Stan Sakai - Gaki
“Gaki means “hungry ghost” in Japanese and this monster is well named. These voracious, eternally tormented, humanlike beasts inhabit the island of Japan and are unable to slake their hunger and thirst. This wouldn’t pose a serious problem for the Japanese, were it not for the Gaki’s filthy, razor-sharp claws with which they can tear up even a hearty youth in mere moments. More than thirty-six varieties of Gaki have been reported. Some appear as large, brightly colored men bearing the heads of animals (horse and bull are most commonly seen) and three fully functioning eyes. Some theoreticians postulate that they are an extremely unusual variety of vampire, but more information is required before any firm conclusions may be drawn.
